Jasad Heir by Sara Heshem

Ok so this is on my 2023 favorites.
The classic "dead" heir and the prince of a rival kingdom and they hate each other, and he doesn't know. Iconic. Perfection.
The prince is cold and manipulative and probably toxic. I love it. Specifically for the payoff in the rest of the series that comes from character growth.
When. You. Get. the. Boi. Perspective. And he snarky. Love it.

Adelaide Henry carries an enormous steamer trunk with her wherever she goes. It’s locked at all times. Because when the trunk opens, people around Adelaide start to disappear.

The year is 1915, and Adelaide is in trouble. Her secret sin killed her parents, forcing her to flee California in a hellfire rush and make her way to Montana as a homesteader. Dragging the trunk with her at every stop, she will become one of the “lone women” taking advantage of the government’s offer of free land for those who can tame it—except that Adelaide isn’t alone. Summary: "An ambitious chief of staff risks her career and her heart when she falls hard for her new colleague."

Wild Bond by Laurie Ford

Summary: "A thief who becomes a dragon rider…

After surviving two years in the castle dungeons for a crime she didn’t exactly commit, a stroke of luck allows Corrine Darrow a second chance at freedom. During the Bonding Celebrations—the one time each year when wild dragons find their riders—Rin is given the opportunity to petition her case. But her hopes are quickly dashed when she is brought before the queen’s ruthless spymaster—the very dragon rider who captured her in the first place.

When Rake’s intense gaze locks on her once more, Rin is sure he will send her back to her cell. But before her future can be decided, fate intercedes. Now, Rin must train to become a dragon rider, one of the fierce warriors who protect her world. That won’t be easy with Rin’s thieving reputation, the fellow trainees that mistrust her, and the fiery attraction she feels towards a man she should despise."

I just needed more dragons to help with the Fourth Wing hangover. The dragons in their mini-form are just too adorable!!!
