Devil in the Device by Lora Beth Johnson

All the AI tropes. Zhade is just doing his best.
I still love how the language is adapted because language is living so like...gah.
I wish we had seen more of Zhade's brother because like...I was intrigued.
That ending tho...

Ozland by Wendy Spinale

So the book felt rushed, and there was a lot of telling instead of showing, and a lot of action happening off page. and I like...couldn't figure out who some of the characters were (Ed note: it would have helped if I had known that Dorothy's last name was Gale, lol).
I missed having the perspectives of the characters from the first two books, and like...it felt disconnected.

Everland by Wendy Spinale

*forgets to post review because being sick is fun. lol I read this in January, but we'll count it in February because....chaos.
I have a ship and I have like....another ship that might be less painful....I blame the line "Peter losing Wendy" for all of my dread.
Alexa play Somewhere in Neverland.

Cold the Night, Fast the Wolves by Meg Long

....Is my brain thinking of Snow Dogs ....yes...shhh.
I kept thinking of the ice planet Hoth from Star Wars and Briggs from Fullmetal Alchemist.
Yeah there's some Balto vibes.
It also makes me think about Mt. Everest, and how there are the locals, those who are experienced, and those who are tourists that try to climb it. The tourism is crucial to the local economy, but the tourists aren't necessarily aware of and considerate of the local issues and problems that their visit brings.....Am I going to get on my Everest soap box again....

Flawed by Cecelia Ahern

Cough. Cancel culture.
So pardon the pun, but man this society has flawed logic.
I’m trying to decide if the priest is supposed to be Catholic..cause I’m not getting Catholic vibes.
*Hears a lecture about ashes and sackcloth…
Me: I mean….technically you’re right but you’re missing some key and crucial points.
Toxic righteousness just….
The more I get to know some of the characters, the more it reminds me of Matched

Golden Son by Pierce Brown

*realizes that Red TV could totally be a song for this…or at least for the first book….
and my brain is hearing Fly by Nicki Minaj and See You Again by Wiz Khafia
Hey look at the racism.
Mustang is amazing. I love her. People make assumptions about her and like.. sigh
And of course it has more Hunger Games vibes.
I like...was expecting a thing to happen at the end and it didn't, and I feel like...There's probably a reason why it didn't

Rebel by Amy Tintera

So I listened to parts of this with my eyes closed, which means that for some reason my brain doesn't process it the same, so some of the middle is fuzzy.
I feel like things were wrapped up too easily, but also like...shrug.
I'm here for the ship. Let's be real.

Spark by Amy Kathleen Ryan

I do wants to strangle some of these people who are...unhinged....
My Catholic butt really do want to be starting a fight about how all these people are using Latin... especially because these are phrases said during Mass.
If the characters were more self-aware:

Hey it's that scene from Titanic. Like...all of it.
And of course I can't find the last book in audiobook anywhere. This is fine.

All These Warriors by Amy Tintera

....I did not mean to read two Amy Tintera books, from different series in a row....coincidence
Someone hold my earrings while I start a fight with this guy: "I said do you wanna fight me"
Narcissist..
Eden is a treasure and I love him.
I love it when friends support each other and help each other heal from trauma and like....own up to the things they've done wrong, and actually mean it.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

So this is the second book to make me cry today..and it's the beginning of the book.
As soon as I found out there was a school on Mars:

So like....am I the only one who's like....this has Attack on Titan training camp energy...just me...cool. I'll just listen to the soundtrack with this...
Ohhhh some of these things are sketch and problematic
Ok so more than some of these things are problematic....
Did my brain compensate for the gruesomeness and trauma by saying "God, it's brutal out here" yes.
Alexa play Teenagers.
If you can get past the violence and like...despicable things that are happening to the characters--it slaps.
It's like Hunger Games but with less direct killing, and more violence/cruelty against women and scheming and some teamwork involved.

Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama

LONG POST OF A BINGE READ OF A MANGA AHEAD- BEWARE.
I tried not to mention anything that was spoilery, but like. Shrug.

I added a read more button because...I read like...basically the whole series and I don't wanna put you guys through that--there are some iconic gifs though

Volume 1:
I like....kind of know things because I've read some articles and I made the mistake of reading a post that said "No Spoilers" but definitely had spoilers (which I have tried to forget)
WHY ARE ALL OF THEIR NAMES SIMILAR. I KNOW THEIR FACES BUT NOT THEIR NAMES. ...wait is this commentary on how we know people by how they look but not by who they really are.. No I'm overthinking and my one brain-cell can't take it.

....I am confused...like..
THERE'S THE TITLE
Istg if you hurt my child emotionally.
Hero.
Are you. No. That's just. um. no.
WHAT
What?
Ok so I'm just confused. And I'm hurt. And honestly. Problematic characters make my life difficult.

Ashlords by Scott Reintgen

Am I getting Hunger Games and Scorpio Races vibes....
Do I know who's going to be doing the betraying. Yes.
When the "smart" character has one brain cell.
I love the magic system and how the horse magic works because like....SCIENCE.
I'm a horse girl, shut up.
Yeah. We knew he was going to be like that (and I don't have to specify which he, because they all did what I thought they would).
I feel like there's going to be a romance subplot in the next book, and I kind of don't want it because I don't know how they'd make it work
I'm here for Imelda and only Imelda....and Pippa's horse... Don't @ me.
