The Ten Year Nap by Meg Wolitzer, narrated by Alyssa Bresnahan

I picked this book to read because of its title.  I would love a ten year nap! But in this case the nap refers to the time spent as a stay at home parent.  The book follows four New York friends who have chosen to stay at home with their children and who are now contemplating a return to paid employment.  Understandably, they have mixed feelings about going back to work.  Have they fallen too far behind?  What if they don't want to go back?  Just to make it interesting, Wolitzer interleaves each friend's story with her mother's during the Women's Liberation movement and lets the husbands tell their stories too.  383 pages. 13 hours 39 minutes.

The Dog Stars by Peter Heller, read by Mark Deakins

Why read another book about a post-apocalyptic world where everyone's killing each other to survive?  A lonely man and his dog, an enigmatic survivalist neighbor, and an airplane..what's not to like?  All of the characters have experienced the unbearable loss of loved ones. All of them have had to do unspeakable things to survive the breakdown of society.  All of them hope to find community again. Seriously, it's a beautifully written (and read) story. Unabridged audiobook, 10 hrs. 41 minutes. 336 pages.

Wallflower in Bloom by Claire Cook

Deirdre Griffin is the social media guru behind her brother Tag's success as an inspirational speaker/lifestyle coach.  Then her brother tries to break up a growing attraction between his old high school friend and Deirdre. She decides to use her mad tech skills to get voted on as a last minute replacement for a celebrity contestant on Dancing With The Stars. I thoroughly enjoyed the Dancing With The Stars story line and could relate to Deirdre's constantly being overshadowed by a popular older brother.  Unabridged audiobook.  7 hours 49 minutes. 272 pages.
