Harleen by Stjepan Sejic

Harleen

We really don't get a lot of storylines about Dr. Harleen Quinzel before she becomes Harley Quinn. I loved the way this comic portrayed the progression of her character from genuinely wanting to help the patients in Arkham Asylum to becoming one herself. The Joker is also brilliantly shown in his madness and egocentrism, without stealing the spotlight of Harleen. The artwork overall is colorful, but also dark enough to be creepy.

This is a great comic for Harley Quinn fans.

Renegades by Marissa Meyer

Y'all I live for villains who think they're heroes. Sign me up. Evil laughter...Finally I can let out all my pent up evil laughs...
I also live for villains who are actually heroes and have the heart of a hero.
I love Marissa Meyer's world building...
Bad Reputation plays while Nova kills it. She sassy.
Adrian must be protected. He is stupid and I love him. So stupid.
When you picture a character a certain way in your head for 7/8 of the book....and you find out he looks different... I'm shook. How do you fix your brain...Crud.
Max is a boss and deserves the world.
Nova...Just...Just indulge your romantic urges for three seconds...Please.
Elphaba's No Good Deed plays in the background.

Nimona by Noelle Stevenson

Summary: "Nimona is an impulsive young shapeshifter with a knack for villainy. Lord Ballister Blackheart is a villain with a vendetta. As sidekick and supervillain, Nimona and Lord Blackheart are about to wreak some serious havoc. Their mission: prove to the kingdom that Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin and his buddies at the Institution of Law Enforcement and Heroics aren't the heroes everyone thinks they are. But as small acts of mischief escalate into a vicious battle, Lord Blackheart realizes that Nimona's powers are as murky and mysterious as her past. And her unpredictable wild side might be more dangerous than he is willing to admit." - Amazon

This was awesome.  The character interaction is perfection, and I laughed out loud more than once.  Hero/villain is a flexible title in this novel which makes for a refreshingly new take on a very common storyline.  Nimona is my spirit animal, and if there is ever a sequel, I will squeal in joy and make it mine.

5/5 - read immediatley

The Legion of Regrettable Supervillains: Oddball Criminals from Comic Book History by Jon Morris

The Legion of Regrettable Supervillains: Oddball Criminals from Comic Book History by Jon Morris
My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

I read a special, limited edition of this title, available through LootCrate, a monthly subscription service. It is an abbreviated edition with 124 pages. This collection describes villains from a variety of comic book eras who were weird, comical, incompetent and some are even dangerous. This collection affectionately showcases oddball criminals.
