Heart and Seoul by Erin Kinsella

Summary: "She's living her very own K-drama. Beside herself with excitement, best-selling author Tessa Hale flies to the vibrant city of Seoul, South Korea, where she's meeting the cast and crew of the film adaptation of her book. The thrill shifts to star-struck panic when she discovers the actor cast as the lead is the idol she's been high-key crushing on for years. The last thing he wants is more real-life drama. Baek Eun Gi is part of one of the biggest K-pop groups in the business. Music has lost its lustre, and he's hoping a shift in focus will bring back that connection he craves. Although he's estranged from his family, he has his friends, a thriving career, and a healthy respect for the dating restrictions imposed upon him. Meet cute, scandal...wedding?"

ha, this is the second book I've read with the same title. I guess the soul/Seoul play on words is too tempting for publishers to pass up.

This book kept me company when our power was out all night during the coldest night of the year.

The maknae line really made this story! So adorable. And Eun Gi is a sweetie. The end was wild.

These books aren't that great, but oh well.

Falling for Korea by Piper Jean

Summary: "America meets K-drama in this rollercoaster plot with a fresh take on romance and what it means to be family.

When Sydney is sent to Seoul to live with a family she’s never met, she encounters unexpected chemistry with their son, but must fight to unravel the mystery of why she was sent away. Will she be able to get home before it’s too late, or will Korea turn out to be just the thing she needed?"

I don't even know what just happened. This book became more and more non-sensical as it continued. It kinda felt like they accidentally uploaded a first draft to the Kindle store.

Heart and Seoul by Jen Frederick

Summary: "As a Korean adoptee, Hara Wilson doesn’t need anyone telling her she looks different from her white parents. She knows....At the age of twenty-five, she thought she had come to terms with it all, but when her father suddenly dies, an offhand comment at his funeral triggers an identity crisis that has her running off to Seoul in search of her roots.

What Hara finds there has all the makings of a classic K-drama: a tall, mysterious stranger who greets her at the airport, spontaneous adventures across the city, and a mess of familial ties, along with a red string of destiny that winds its way around her heart and soul. Hara goes to Korea looking for answers, but what she gets instead is love—a forbidden love that will either welcome Hara home…or destroy her chance of finding one."

Bae Jaewoo is just that...BAE.

Also, I would like this book to be 200 more pages of Jaewoo and Nathaniel please.

K-Pop Confidential by Stephan Lee

Summary: "Candace Park knows a lot about playing a role. For most of her life, she's been playing the role of the quiet Korean girl who takes all AP classes and plays a classical instrument, keeping her dreams of stardom-and her obsession with SLK, K-pop's top boyband-to herself. She doesn't see how a regular girl like her could possibly become one of those K-pop goddesses she sees on YouTube. Even though she can sing. Like, really sing.

So when Candace secretly enters a global audition held by SLK's music label, the last thing she expects is to actually get a coveted spot in their trainee program. And convincing her strict parents to let her to go is all but impossible ... although it's nothing compared to what comes next."

This cover? Obsessed. Literally perfect.

Loved the glossary in the back - much needed!

Also hoping that the lives of idol trainees aren't actually this terrible. Yikes.
