A Question of Holmes by Brittany Cavallaro

Oxford. fdsjkalfjdsakl
I loved watching Jamie and Charlotte's relationship develop.
I love the way that Holmes describes Jamie....Also I just love the way that she's learning about herself and learning to see herself...and her fears...cause same.
That epilogue......I need more.... I don't care if open endings are supposed to make me feel this way. I want all the answers. Like someone give me some more fanfic.

The Case for Jamie by Brittany Cavallaro

Oh Watson...You stressed. Someone protec
...I feel personally victimized by the characterization of Mrs. Dunhan (NAME?)....because the knitting and the shows...I did not come here to be put in a book and called out.
I have a desperate need to protect Charlotte. Like...no one will ever hurt you again. I'm signing the adoption papers.
Also like.....the whole "You saved me" vibes....like...I have that with my best friend and like..... I cry every time I think about that....like how they both were lost and then they found each other. (Yeah I'm thinking about BBC Sherlock and the wedding speech ok....)

I love Charlotte. Like I love the way she speaks about herself... saaaaame. Like there's a chapter that I just want to write in my quote journal.
And I love Jamie. (The way he obsesses over things until they're a part of his identity--same).
All the Germany vibes.
Also all the Sherlock Easter eggs.
That ending though....

Jackaby by William Ritter

Jackaby (Jackaby, #1)Jackaby by William Ritter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a clever, awkwardly charming-ish, 19th century New England-y, Sherlock-Holmes-esque, paranormal mystery. It's not addictive, but it's a solid read. At times, it feels a bit predictable, but the mystery itself was smart and well-planned.

The idea of Sherlock Holmes has been revisited so many times, in so many ways, that it's hard to bring something new to the table, but Jackaby is a decent take. I think it would appeal to mystery lovers, paranormal readers, Sherlock fans, and Whovians.

The god of the hive : a novel of suspense featuring Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes by Laurie R. King

The God of the Hive picks up where The Language of Bees abruptly left off.  Mary Russell and Sherlock are on the run.  Mary has Sherlock's little granddaughter in tow and is trying to fly back to London in one piece. Sherlock has abducted a doctor to care for his severely wounded son while they attempt a boat crossing to Holland. Both believe they are being followed by the cult leader responsible for the ritualistic murder of Sherlock's daughter-in-law and others. What they have yet to discover is that the cult leader was only a pawn in a Secret Services power struggle.  King introduces the unforgettable character of Robin Goodfellow-shell shocked veteran, childlike woodsman, and implacable protector of the helpless.  An amazing adventure read! 354 pages.

The Language of Bees by Laurie King

It's been awhile since I've read Laurie King's Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes series.  I had a few books to catch up on and when I started reading The Language of Bees it was like meeting an old friend.  Her books are so enjoyable-likable, interesting characters and puzzling plot-lines.  The Language of Bees takes off from the mystery of an abandoned bee hive.  Why did the bees leave and where did they go? How do bees communicate with each other? Does the language of families share the mysterious qualities of bee communication? Mary Russell ponders these questions as she helps Sherlock Holmes try to find his estranged son's wife and child. 715 pages.

Garment of Shadows by Laurie R. King

Sherlock Holmes fans will enjoy this new variation in the Holmes saga.  In Laurie King's version, Sherlock Holmes has a female sidekick, Mary Russell (start with her  Beekeeper's Apprentice to read up on how they met), In their latest outing, Mary wakes up in the dark, not knowing who or where she is.  She uses her skills as a Baker Street Irregular to escape from her captivity, find a disguise, and eventually meet up with Holmes.  It's a great adventure story with a little bit of Moroccan history thrown in to make it interesting.  266 pages.
