This book really read like an action/sci-fi movie and I was able to read it from start to finish without stopping. I truly enjoyed the story but I had a lot of trouble with the credibility of some things. One of the characters is a shut-in who was mentally abused by her dead aunt (and there are some not-so-subtle allusions to Great Expectations here) who within 2 months is completely over her trauma without any adverse symptoms. Yeah, don't think it really works that way, but I was willing to suspend my disbelief for this one.
I liked the idea of a beyond normal intelligent dog and the idea of the "Outsider" was creepy, but I was hoping for more than just the boiler plate action book.
