His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik
talking baby dragon talking baby dragon.
Must protect dragons at all costs. I love them.
Also we're including the different varieties of dragons, like Chinese and Japanese dragons which have different strengths than European dragons. Amazing.
The Book Toothless from HTTYD, and the Eragon vibes, except the dragon rider person is like....not a child and is in the Navy.
Also the fact that this is taking place during the Napoleonic wars.

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik
Pages: 465
"When an ill-advised boast draws the attention of the king of the Staryk--grim fey creatures who seem more ice than flesh--Miryem's fate, and that of two kingdoms, will be forever altered. Set an impossible challenge by the nameless king, Miryem unwittingly spins a web that draws in a peasant girl, Wanda, and the unhappy daughter of a local lord who plots to wed his child to the dashing young tsar. But Tsar Mirnatius is not what he seems. And the secret he hides threatens to consume the lands of humans and Staryk alike. Torn between deadly choices, Miryem and her two unlikely allies embark on a desperate quest that will take them to the limits of sacrifice, power, and love."
Spinning Silver is a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin anchored in reality. Miryem gains a reputation as a moneylender who turns silver into gold through investments and interest. Unfortunately mysterious creatures called the Staryk covet gold and want her to make some for them. The clever solutions to the challenges are amazing and the universe that the author weaves is so magically atmospheric. The story is told through six different perspectives, but it does not get muddled and confusing like other multiple pov stories. The separate threads flowed with each other so well and kept me excited to see each one instead of waiting to go back to the original.

The Golden Enclaves by Naomi Novik
Also like...I can't.
The world building. The origins
My boy. My baby boy. We love him. I want more of him.
I had no idea how the book was gonna, and I was afraid that it was going to go one of two ways, for like...the first third of the book, but it didn't.
When there's a character you don't like. And you just wanna get rid of them, but you can't.
....An airplane...like..ugh. It wasn't necessary, and you could totally have just taken a nap and have a snack if you wanted to avoid your feelings.... I'm irritated, don't ask me about it.
Sometimes El's choices confuse me...And by choices, I mean two specific choices....
I wonder if the story would have benefited from a second perspective...not even often, but like.... I wanted more of him...

A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik
The one time they misname a character as “clary”…I see you making that reference.
Orion and El just like…remind me of Agatha and Tedros from The School for Good and Evil. I just love the dynamic.
And I love the vibes of the story.
That last line just…..
