I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

(this is probably going to be a lame review, because I don't have words for it, except that I love that Jennette shared her story, because like.....sharing stories is hecka imporant)
Some of Jennette's story really resonated with me and like..oof.
I don't have words, but like...
I love Jennette. She's cool. I'd be friends with her.

Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman

When the web-series that turned into books goes on a hiatus, so you don't have your weekly dose of new fluff...
Ok but the way we're dealing with mental health. Nick's mom is just. The best. Nick being the adorable loving cutie-pie that the world needs. The concerned golden retriever baby.
Just let them text! Yes this could be seen as kind of dependent on each other but like....they teenages. mere youts. This relationship is statistically way more healthy than a lot of others. Let the babies talk.
The New Years scene.
I have to remind myself that they're Brits so like...their idea of vacation and I don't know...self-care, view of work and school-life, lifestyle mentality, are different than the U.S. that and they have British accents and are like....right next to a gazillion countries so it makes sense and that they can walk everywhere because stuff is close.
The dogs. I'm always here for the dogs.
I feel so seen for reasons. Also I would die for Charlie (and Nick, always Nick, but we're specifying Charlie today). I would kill for him. Either way what bliss.
Tori is so cool and I hope to be as amazing as her one day....
My children. Just trying their best. Just:

Heartstopper Volume 3 by Alice Oseman

fjdskafjskajfkslajfdk
We be's talking about real issues... The way they're handling all of this is just. chef's kiss for a graphic novel.
oh and going to Paris. nbd.  Also how dare they talk about Notre Dame and remind me that it's burned atm....like yeah it's a building, but it's pretty and I love it....for reasons that cannot be explained in a book review blog post.....
The field trip dads...I can't. I love them. Like....you ding dongs.

<--I feel both of these emotions...simultaneously.... when Nick loves Charlie. I can't. Nick is such a good noodle. Beautiful little golden retriever pup pup.  (The pride flag in front of Captain Holt is also hecka appropriate).

In Focus Series by Megan Erickson

Focus on Me (In Focus #2)Focus on Me by Megan Erickson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This M/M NAroad trip romance has a lot of depth, deals with some serious issues, and still has fun and lighthearted moments. I picked it up, because I love the characters Megan Erickson writes. I read the first book in the series last year, so I was happy when I found out that I could get the next 3 books on audio.

Out of Frame (In Focus #3)Out of Frame by Megan Erickson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This M/M NA romance takes place on a cruise ship, as part of a reality show, both of which are fun elements, but it still has a serious edge. Quinn is adorable and JR is complicated, which makes for a good story.

Overexposed (In Focus, #4)Overexposed by Megan Erickson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This NA romance (M/M) is thoroughly enjoyable and includes a long hiking trip, a charming chatty Levi, and a quiet, caring Thad. It also introduced me to the term demisexual, which I had never heard of before, so I appreciated that it expanded my awareness.

Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra

Tiny Pretty Things (Tiny Pretty Things, #1)Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a dramatic and diverse story set in a cutthroat ballet world.

This is not a novel where you love all the characters. It's a story where you tolerate all the characters, while still finding their stories fascinating. You won't want to hang out with them or befriend them. This is the kind of story where you enjoy the ride but are happy the characters are stuck in the book and not part of your world.
