Message Not Found by Dante Medema

I liked watching the development of the app and how it evolved with more information.
When you see yourself in both people in the friendship....oof.
The high school shrines and the hatred of them...
It's the Bob Ross references for me.
Can we just...protect Bailey, Mason, and Spencer....
We're just getting hit with all of the feels
Also do I keep thinking of Folklore and Evermore because this book also references quarantine...yes.. "incandescent"

Teen Frankenstein (High School Horror Story #1)

by

Pages: 336

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Story starts off with an intriguing premise, what if the high school age girl was the first scientist named Frankenstein to bring someone back from the dead. How would she and her best friend, lab partner, deal with the ethical implications? What would they do with the uh, person? during the day while they were in class? How does she keep Mom from finding out? A good beginning introduction to horror and science fiction for a young teen or even the right pre-teen. Some of the ethical questions brought up could lead to good classroom or book club discussion. Not scary at all for most adults and most older teens.

Autoboyography by Christina Lauren

Starting off when the Lin Manuel Miranda quote. Chef's kiss.
Only 19 but my mind is older
Two bros chillin' in a hot tub
Ohhhhh this is giving me Dead Poet's Society vibes.....
I'm just going to go over there and collapse.
Four months to write a book. HALP.
I love the writing style and just. like....fsnkda
Tanner the bi-con.
I liked that the authors didn't try to vilify religion, because I feel like in a lot of coming out stories, religion is used as the villain, so it was nice to see religious characters as multi-faceted.
Also can we just talk about Sebastian and his relationship with God. Someone help me; I love that nerd.

Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman

When the web-series that turned into books goes on a hiatus, so you don't have your weekly dose of new fluff...
Ok but the way we're dealing with mental health. Nick's mom is just. The best. Nick being the adorable loving cutie-pie that the world needs. The concerned golden retriever baby.
Just let them text! Yes this could be seen as kind of dependent on each other but like....they teenages. mere youts. This relationship is statistically way more healthy than a lot of others. Let the babies talk.
The New Years scene.
I have to remind myself that they're Brits so like...their idea of vacation and I don't know...self-care, view of work and school-life, lifestyle mentality, are different than the U.S. that and they have British accents and are like....right next to a gazillion countries so it makes sense and that they can walk everywhere because stuff is close.
The dogs. I'm always here for the dogs.
I feel so seen for reasons. Also I would die for Charlie (and Nick, always Nick, but we're specifying Charlie today). I would kill for him. Either way what bliss.
Tori is so cool and I hope to be as amazing as her one day....
My children. Just trying their best. Just:

Heartstopper Volume 3 by Alice Oseman

fjdskafjskajfkslajfdk
We be's talking about real issues... The way they're handling all of this is just. chef's kiss for a graphic novel.
oh and going to Paris. nbd.  Also how dare they talk about Notre Dame and remind me that it's burned atm....like yeah it's a building, but it's pretty and I love it....for reasons that cannot be explained in a book review blog post.....
The field trip dads...I can't. I love them. Like....you ding dongs.

<--I feel both of these emotions...simultaneously.... when Nick loves Charlie. I can't. Nick is such a good noodle. Beautiful little golden retriever pup pup.  (The pride flag in front of Captain Holt is also hecka appropriate).

Heartstopper Volume 2 by Alice Oseman

All the kermit heart emojis....because this is wholesome and I can't.
Reading this on my phone:

Nick. You need to stop. You are killing me with your pureness.. I love him. Can I keep him. His cute little bi heart...like....not trying to stereotype, but he just looks like someone who's bi (it's the cuffed shirts for me). How did he not know he was bi

Charlie. Baby. I love him. I will protect him with my life.
Nick. I also love him. Big teddy bear. Clueless cutie pie.
Ok but the dog. Because winter coat. She's like Pep Pep. I'm just over here crying about a rat sized dog wearing a winter coat. I feel so seen by the existence of a calf high dog.
Everyone shut up I'm enjoying fluff.

And by feed birds I mean read this wholesome content.
The drawing style is adorable and I love it and I just. jdsfkla

Deacon Locke Went to Prom by Brian Katcher

Summary: "Too shy to look for a prom date, Deacon decides to ask his grandmother to the event and when a video of their dancing goes viral, he finds his life taking an unforgettable turn."

A fun, adorable and meaningful story!

The author's approach was fun and entertaining. However, the pacing was a bit weird at times, and the overall flow was a bit disjointed.

I wanted more out of Deacon's personality, but the other characters made up for it.

I'd Like to Apologize to Every Teacher I Ever Had: My Year as a Rookie Teacher at Northeast High

I'd Like to Apologize to Every Teacher I Ever Had: My Year as a Rookie Teacher at Northeast High
by Tony Danza
Pages:
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

What starts out as an idea for a documentary television series becomes a lesson in the real-life struggles of teachers and teens across America, especially in the inner cities. Actor, Tony Danza started college wanting to teach high school history before he discovered acting. Now he has the chance to teach for one-year in inner city Philadelphia. But only one class a day of Sophomore English with a teacher agreeing to sit-in and monitor everything he does. The school board wants to make sure their students still get an education while the tv cameras are rolling.

Tony learns that teaching is the hardest job is ever done, physically, mentally and emotionally. He becomes connected to his students and learns how times have changed since he went to school in the city. He also ends up working for half of the school year for free because he caught the film crew and producer talking the teens into making trouble just to "spice up" the footage. He and the principal demand they leave, but Tony is able to stay and finish out the year with the students.

Ryan's Bed by Tijan

Ryan's BedRyan's Bed by Tijan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I crawled into Ryan Jensen’s bed that first night by accident.

I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister’s bed—her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should've left...

I didn’t.
I didn’t jump out.
I didn’t get embarrassed.
I relaxed.
And that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved.

I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept.

The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could've stayed forever, I would have.
He became my sanctuary.

Because—four hours earlier—my twin sister killed herself.

I was nervous about starting this book, because many people enjoyed this book but made comments that this is the saddest book by Tijan. Well it differently starts out very sad and I can't even image what Mac had to work through. But she starts to turn around her life so much and becomes a much stronger person because of all the stuff that she has had to deal with.

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary: "I won't tell anyone, Echo. I promise. Noah tucked a curl behind my ear. It had been so long since someone touched me like he did. Why did it have to be Noah Hutchins? His dark brown eyes shifted to my covered arms. "You didn't do that-did you? It was done to you?" No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked."

I really enjoyed this book, it was very emotional at some points. I liked how smooth the story moved alone, and kept moving towards what happened to these people in the past.

Dare You To (Pushing the Limits, #2)Dare You To by Katie McGarry
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Summary: Ryan lowers his lips to my ear. "Dance with me, Beth."

"No." I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself for wanting him to touch me again....

"I dare you..."

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does....

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.

This book took a little longer for me to get into, but once I got into the story it was very good. I don't know if it was because I was thinking that Beth would end up with someone else, so I was disappointed, or if it really did take me that long to enjoy it.

Crash into You (Pushing the Limits, #3)Crash into You by Katie McGarry
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Summary: The girl with straight A's and the perfect life—that's who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy family…and she's just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker—a guy she has no business even talking to. But after the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can't get him out of her mind.

The last thing Isaiah needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks. But when their shared love of street racing puts their lives in jeopardy, Isaiah and Rachel will have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they'll go to save each other.

I was happy that this series moved onto Isaiah next. I felt like he needed his happy ending after putting himself out there with Beth. I wish that he would have made the comment that what he felt for Rachel was so different from Beth. This book is full of parents that are more screwed up than their children.

Take Me On (Pushing the Limits, #4)Take Me On by Katie McGarry
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Summary: Champion kickboxer Haley swore she'd never set foot in the ring again after one tragic night. But then the guy she can't stop thinking about accepts a mixed martial arts fight in her honor. Suddenly, Haley has to train West Young. All attitude, West is everything Haley promised herself she'd stay away from. Yet he won't last five seconds in the ring without her help.

West is keeping a big secret from Haley. About who he really is. But helping her-fighting for her-is a shot at redemption. Especially since it's his fault his family is falling apart. He can't change the past, but maybe he can change Haley's future.

Hayley and West have agreed to keep their relationship strictly in the ring. But as an unexpected bond forms between them and attraction mocks their best intentions, they'll face their darkest fears and discover love is worth fighting for.

At first I was not happy that they didn't move onto Abby, because I became so hooked with her in the last book. Once I got to know more about these couple, I did come around and liked them just as much. This book had more side characters that all had their own issues, so that was a nice change to add so many other people into the story.

Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas

Punk 57Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was more than what I expected. The two main characters met as pen pals in elementary school, (they keep writing for years) than because of a chance meeting they meet at a warehouse. His world changes that night, so he stops writing with her. Both of their worlds start to pull apart after they stop talking to each other. I enjoyed the little beautiful words or thoughts that are thrown in throughout this book. 343 Pages

Fallen Crest Family (Fallen Crest High, #2)Fallen Crest Family by Tijan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This continues with the life of the three teenagers, Logan, Mason, and Sam. Sam and Mason have declared that they are together, this doesn’t go over well. You realize how crazy both of their families are and the things that her mother does to try to keep Sam away from the brothers is just crazy.  287 Pages

Fallen Crest Public (Fallen Crest High, #3)Fallen Crest Public by Tijan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sam starts at Fallen Crest Public and things don’t go well at all. This book brought a whole new meaning to the word mean girls. These girls are very awful and come up with very hateful things to do to Sam. Mason has a plan to get back at the head of the mean girls, and I don’t agree with that they did to her but at the same time I am glad that it wasn’t Sam. It turned out to be good that Sam made a friend with the other side because they helped protect her. Sam developed so much as a character in this book though, she stepped up and became the better person even though she should not have because of what they did to her. I am also glad to see that Sam is working on her relationship with her dads and that she has a nice step mom now.  312 Pages

Fallen Fourth Down (Fallen Crest High, #4)Fallen Fourth Down by Tijan

Sam is working on getting into the same college as Mason with a track scholarship. There is still the teen drama that has to finished cleaning up and then they start the new college drama.   402 Pages
