The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by S.A. Chakraborty

It was an ARC but I finished it the day after it was published.
It's the first book in a trilogy, and it's got like...Arabian Nights vibes, except it's pirates.
The historical fantasy.
I still love that she includes all of her research references. We love it.

The Empire of Gold by S.A. Chakraborty

Insert that scene from Grey's Anatomy with Izzy and the ferry accident.
These two children being blushing messes around each other. I can't.

I love all of my children. My beautiful babies.
Nahri. I'm just. I can't. I love her. Too pure. Ali. Cinnamon roll. Dara. Trying his best.
....How am I supposed to go on after finishing this... like....I need more content. You can't just.. Where is all the fanart. Where's the fanfiction... S.A. CHAKRABORTY where's the bonus content. And don't tease me on Snapchat with you writing that scene and then not giving it to me. 2020 has been hard enough.

The Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty

Without context:

The yearning. Let's go. I'm here for it. Please give it to me. Please. Just let the children be happy. I need it.
Oh Ali honey.

The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty

And I once again did not read the synopsis before I read the book. So I thought it was going to be all fantasy world, but there was real world settings and magical settings, and the history and the politics.
I think if I had been reading the book, instead of listening to the audiobook I would have been able to understand it better, because sometimes the characters were referred to by their titles, and sometimes by their names, so I sometimes I had a hard time keeping track of who was in what scene. But the concept, and the world building. Sveet.
You name the character Ali:

I had a ship, and now I don't know if it's sinking or not.
Can we just not fight....just like...not lie or deceive...just let the children be happy. and by children I mean Nahri, Alizayd, and Dara.
