(I'VE MET MY READING GOAL FOR THE YEAR).
I honestly checked this book out because V.E. Schwab plus long line. for a digital copy (yes I jump on bandwagons)...And now I'm an emotional wreck. My history nerd is geeking out, and my English major with my love of the arts is geeking out.
This writing style is really pretty. I really liked how the timelines were weaved together.
Also I'm sad now. How dare they make me feel things.
The bi-cons.
I feel personally attacked by this book. How dare there be characters that I relate to on a spiritual level.
MY BIRTHDAY GOT A DATE. AND I WAS ALIVE THEN. ahhhh I was 18.
And my sister's birthday! Oh my gosh... (June 13)
....why are there always cute boys...
Ok but Henry... I love him...like....I relate to him so much...All of his struggles and feelings, and I can't. He is me, but older (and you know, a guy). Send help.. Can I keep him?
Like.... struggling with the idea of being known and loved and seen, and being remembered, and being free.
And the idea of stories and words and I can't.
I do not have words to describe all of my feelings about this book. I am wrecked and I don't know how I will recover from this... Guys...I need someone to scream about this with.....Guys?
V.E. Schwab has murdered me.

The Trials of Apollo: The Tower of Nero by Rick Riordan
"Sometimes you have to let someone else pay [the price]"....so like....don't talk to me about how with mental illness you have to allow people to help you and take burdens of their own volition.
Mt. Dew.....it does indeed do those things...unless you combine them with Starbucks and chocolate within a very short time period or have that all built up in your system.....We're just going to forget freshman year of college.

Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi
and people being monsters....and I'm the type of person to fall for monsters, and then give them chances because there is good in them, until I'm proved hecka wrong.
I have more sympathy for the guys (maybe because they're "misunderstood and brooding" shrug emoji).....Like Inan at the end reminded me of that scene in Batman Begins where Bruce is at his party.
Overall: meh. Like.... meh

Serpent & Dove by Shelby Manhurin
Summary: "Bound as one to love, honor, or burn.
Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned.
Sworn to the Church as a Chasseur, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. His path was never meant to cross with Lou's, but a wicked stunt forces them into an impossible union—holy matrimony.
And love makes fools of us all."
I FINALLY FINISHED A BOOK! YAY, ME!
This story checks almost all of my boxes - brave yet foul-mouthed heroine, golden boy hero, literal enemies-to-lovers, marriage of convenience, found family. It was so, so, so delicious.

Sinister Mystery of the Mesmerizing Girl by Theodora Goss
This
is the third volume in The Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club. I

The
Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix
The
name of this one says it all! I didn’t like this as much as I expected I would
but it was still a fun Halloween read.
424 pages-
A
small town librarian gets caught up in solving a real murder instead of just
reading about them. I really liked this book. Aurora “Roe” Teagarden may
be familiar to some since several movies have been made from this series for
the Hallmark channel.

Red Harvest by Joe Schreiber
Star Wars and... zombies?!
Yep. It's that kind of book. But, the zombie theme surprisingly fits within the galaxy pretty well. I personally love any kind of ancient Sith biogenetic experiment lore anyway, so I enjoyed this one a lot! We also get to see the Jedi bio-experiments and communing with plants through the Force, which we don't really get to see in later periods. Towards the end of the Republic, the Jedi are mostly martial arts and peacekeeper focused, with a diminished Agricultural Corps. (Yes, I'm a huge Star Wars nerd, I know...) A Sith Lord trying to achieve mortality would reasonably end up unleashing a zombie plague which consumes every ounce of life on the planet. I mean really, what else would happen?
