This book has gotten a lot of press and favorable
reviews. The author discusses the impact of current social and
technological trends and their potential impact on libraries, particularly
academic and public libraries. He also explores an enhanced role for
librarians in particular in dealing with the electronic data environment in
which we now live and in preserving the record of our time for future
researchers. While I have seen similar ideas in various articles, Palfrey
pulls the material together into a cohesive package. This is a good
overview with some thought-provoking material on the larger scale of library
services. 259 pages.
