"Blood Rules" by Christine Cody

In this sequel to "Bloodlands," Mariah is increasingly desperate to find a cure for her "ailment."  (I don't want to give any spoilers.)  Gabriel, the vampire to whom she's bonded, is angry with her (for reasons in the first book) but feels he must protect her from herself and others who may cause her harm.  They set out to find a cure for both of them and encounter monsters beyond their imaginations.

I did not enjoy this book.  Too many strange creatures, extraneous details about the dystopian setting, and depressing characters.  I won't be reading the third book in this series.  298 pages.
