This book is set immediately prior to the events in Episode 1. We see the events that led to the Trade Federation blockade of Naboo, and how Supreme Chancellor Valorum was left in a weakened position due to corruption charges. This one is heavy on the politics, but includes action and other elements to relieve the political tedium.
