Kluwe is a kicker in the NFL and has a brain that just won't quit. He gained national attention in the media in 2012 for a scathing and hilarious letter to a Maryland state legislator who tried to stifle the free speech of another NFL player who supports gay marriage. As you can tell from the title, Kluwe covers a wide range of topics in small chapters only a few pages long. His strongest entries (and rants) are on his unwavering support of free speech, free will, and gay marriage, what it's like to play pro football, and his personal life. Some of these were columns or letters for the
St. Paul Pioneer Press, Deadspin, and other media. Kluwe has no patience for folks without empathy or compassion for others different from them. Other sections are more random thoughts and ideas that make me think the guy's brain is on hyperwarp drive. Kluwe should think about becoming a lawyer when his NFL career ends, because he has quite a way with words and a fundamental belief in fairness. 252 pages.
