This is the second book by Mallon I’ve read and I’m
definitely a fangirl; Mallon has the skill to seamlessly blend historical fact
and fictional characters into stories that engage the reader. In this book, the plot is the classic: girl meets boy, girl meets another boy and the
boys compete for the girl. It wasn’t until the very last pages that I realized
just how cleverly embedded the Dewey/Truman surprise ending.
