Cussy Mary is a packhorse librarian in the Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, bringing books to the Appalachian community of Troublesome Creek. Cussy and her family are also the last of the blue-skinned people of Kentucky and not everyone approves of her having the job of book woman.
