AT WEDDINGS AND WAKES by Alice McDermott

I LOVE this author’s writing and her plot structure unequivocally.  The last chapter exquisitely answers so many questions that begin in the very first chapter and build throughout the novel.

Three generations of an Irish Catholic family are represented through the unfolding stories of three sisters, their stepmother, and one sister’s children.  Often the chapters are told through the eyes of the young children which adds yet another layer to this beautifully told tale of life, love and death.
