Year of Wonders

By Geraldine Brooks

308 pages

Another beautiful historical fiction masterpiece from Geraldine Brooks.  Set in 1666, it tells the tale of Anna Frith, a young woman confronting death, disease, religion, superstition and the many shades of human nature as the Plague overtakes her village.   Masterfully written, and based on the real village of Eyam in England’s Derbyshire, a community who made the decision to quarantine the entire town rather than risk spreading the plague to other communities.
