Midwestern girl, Amanda Brown feels guilty for a moment of bad judgement and decides to became a missionary to redeem herself. She is about to embark on an amazing journey to the Belgian Congo. Diamonds are still being mined in the area to add to the wealth of Belgium but the Congolese are looking forward to a time of independence.
The couple Amanda is replacing at the Missionary Guest House are delayed in an outlaying village and she has to take charge and adjust to the culture without any guidance. Her first mistake according to her housekeeper, is hiring the wife of a local witch doctor to be her assistant.
